USM Stormwater Runoff Management Sets the Bar

AllenES is proud to serve the University of Southern Mississippi through their Phase II Stormwater Program.  Special thanks go out to the leadership and staff at the University Physical Plant and the Office of Sustainability for the amazing work they do every day to keep the campus beautiful and sustainable for future generations.

Project Highlight – Yancey Wildlife Management Area

AllenES recently completed construction of a weir on the Richard K. Yancey Wildlife Management Area along the Mississippi River in eastern Louisiana. Funded by the Lower Mississippi River Conservation Committee, the weir will maintain water levels in the Blackhawk Scar Lakes on the WMA which are popular fishing destinations.

Stormwater Training

Paul Lanning, RLA conducted a webinar this month covering topics such as Erosion and Sediment Control Measures, as well as Green Infrastructure Best Management Practices.  The presentation was given to local Developers and Contractors as a part of the NPDES Phase II Stormwater Program for local municipal clients.

 

Madison Avenue Upper Elementary School Receives Earbuds

In the spirit of the giving season, AllenES donated approximately 200 earbuds to Madison Avenue Upper Elementary School in Madison, Mississippi to be used in classes and enjoyed by the students.  We would also like to thank all of the educators, administrators, and school support staff for their commitment and dedication to the youth of today and future leaders of tomorrow!  Your hard work deserves our attention and appreciation!!!

AllenES’ November Environmental Seminar

Rick Sumrall, P.E. and Melissa Pringle, Ph.D. provided an educational seminar regarding Sustainable Manufacturing in November as part of AllenES’ on-going environmental seminar series in 2021.

Restoration Summit

MMA Sustainable Manufacturing Panel

The 2021 MS Manufacturing Environmental and Safety Conference was held in October at the Reserve in Flowood.  The two day conference included presentations on Thursday morning focused on corporate responsibility and transparency initiatives regarding social, environmental and economic sustainability goals.  These presentations were part of an overarching Panel discussion for Sustainable Manufacturing.  Rick Sumrall, P.E. of AllenES served as moderator and panelists included Melissa Pringle, Ph.D. (AllenES), Ashley Kimes (International Paper), Jennifer Koskie (Chemours), and Kristi Mitchum (Chevron).

SWANA Semi-Annual Conference

Allen Engineering and Science sponsored the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Mississippi Chapter 2021 semi-annual conference. The second 2021 semi-annual event was held at the Natchez MS Convention Center. The conference was attended by Project Engineers, Michael Hohm, P.E. and Justin Hill, P.E.
