CRI Workshop in Foley, AL

Jay C. Estes, AICP from AllenES and Dr. Tracie Sempier from the Mississippi Alabama Sea Grant Consortium co-facilitated the Coastal Resilience Index (CRI) in the City of Foley, Alabama on July 19. The CRI is a self-assessment tool designed to help communities determine their level of resilience to natural hazards and to predict how well their community will function after a disaster. Nature-Based Solutions for Coastal Hazards Workshop

AllenES’ Senior Principal Planner, Jay Estes, AICP, participated in a Nature-Based Solutions for Coastal Hazards Workshop hosted by Weeks Bay NERR, NOAA’s Office of Coastal Management, Mississippi State University, Mobile Bay NEP, and The Nature Conservancy. The interactive, hands-on workshop provided participants with the opportunity to learn more about applying natural solutions to assist in mitigating the impacts of natural hazards.

Gulf of Mexico Alliance Business Advisory Committee Webinar

AllenES is a member of the Gulf of Mexico Alliance (GOMA) Business Advisory Committee. Dr. Melissa Pringle enjoyed joining the webinar hosted by Jeff Keenum, Environmental Advisor/EHP Office/FEMA Region 4. His insightful presentation covered the “Partial Implementation of the Federal Flood Risk Management Standard.”

MCBL&F Young Professionals Spring Connections Event

Owen McIntosh attended the Madison County Business League & Foundation (MCBL&F) Young Professionals Spring Connections.
Amber Coeur, CEO/Entrepreneur, outlined strategies to optimize alignment with our core values in daily life to enhance mental health and foster mental well-being by merging personal and professional aspirations.

AL Soil and Water Conservation Annual Meeting

AllenES was proud to serve as a sponsor for the AL Soil and Water Conservation Society Annual Meeting this spring.

The meeting included informative presentations regarding water quality and coastal management challenges in addition to conducting project site visits to see first-hand engineered solutions being constructed.

 

MEC Annual Meeting

Dr. Melissa Pringle and Owen McIntosh attended the Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) Annual Meeting to explore AI’s impact on businesses and its potential in local MS communities.

Madison County League and Legislature Luncheon

Mr. Owen McIntosh and Dr. Melissa Pringle represented AllenES at the Madison County League and Legislature Luncheon in March.

Speaker of the House, Jason White, served as the keynote presenter.

GOMCON

AllenES Senior Principal Planner Jay Estes, AICP presented the City of Foley, Alabama’s Resilient Housing Plan during session of the Coastal Community Resilience Working Group at the Gulf of Mexico Alliance 2024 GOMCON Conference.

The presentation was one of four concurrent sessions focused on resilient housing issues in the Gulf of Mexico Region.

MEDC Legislative Conference

AllenES enjoyed participating in the MEDC Legislative Conference in February.

It was a wonderful two days kicking off with Governor Haley Barbour serving as keynote speaker on Day One and wrapping up with Governor Tate Reeves as keynote speaker of the Awards Luncheon on Day Two.

Hats off to MEDC for a job well done!
