AllenES held our annual fish fry to help kick-off Spring! In addition to a fun time together, our “family” gathered donations to assist the MS communities devastated by the recent tornado.
AllenES’ Principal Scientist, Brad Young, was contracted by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks to assist in conducting den checks on radio-collared black bears along the Mississippi River. Young captured and fitted the female bears with tracking collars during trapping efforts in the fall of last year (2022). The females were tracked to their winter dens to document the birth of cubs for this year (2023). The newborn cubs were weighed, measured and given a microchip implant which will be used to identify them in the future.
AllenES continues to grow and is pleased to welcome Michael Wilson to the team. Mr. Wilson serves as a Project Construction Manager with the company and focuses on civil and environmental construction projects.
For our March seminar, Oliver Birch presented emerging technology and demonstrated how these innovative tools can advance performance across the engineering and consulting arena. Oliver serves as a Scientist with the company and continues to embrace the ever evolving technologies for tools in the field and in the office.
AllenES was pleased to attend the highly anticipated groundbreaking event for the future Aluminum Dynamics facility located in Lowndes County, MS. The project is touted as the largest economic development project in the history of Mississippi. Joe Max Higgins, Jr., CEO of GTR Link spoke to the company’s investment in the Golden Triangle Region and about job creation, and Governor Tate Reeves and Mark Millet, CEO of Steel Dynamics, Inc. broke ground with a big bang.
We were pleased to have Travis Beard as our February seminar presenter. Travis is an Environmental Scientist with AllenES and has been a vital part of our Team for eighteen years. He provided an update on the WOTUS history and Final Rule during the lunch and learn seminar.
Jay C. Estes, AICP recently participated in facilitator training for the Coastal Community Resilience Index conducted by the Mississippi/Alabama Sea Grant.
